PHELPS, Ann Grace

Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, AZ March 14, 2007 Ann G. Phelps, age 82, passed away March 10 at the East Valley Hospice of Arizona in Mesa. Graveside services were held on Tuesday, March 13 at the Wickenburg Municipal Cemetery with Pastor Dean Stanley of the First Southern Baptist Church officiating. Ann was born and raised in Beardstrown, Ill., to Claude Spoon and Nina Mallicoat Spoon. She married Robert William "Bill" Phelps, Sr., Feb 13, 1944, and they made their home in Beardstown until moving to Arizona in 1947 for health reasons. They settled in Wickenburg where Bill owned and operated the Phelps Union 76 Service Station for 30 years and Ann owned and operated the Hassayampa Beauty Shop for 15 years. Ann was a longtime member of the First Southern Baptist Church. She is survived by children Bill Phelps, Jr. (Nancy) of Fairfax, VA., and Patty Crossland of Flagstaff, Ariz., sister Betty Spurlock (Ed)of Bagdad, Ariz., five grandchildren Todd Phelps, Tracy Thomas, Breanne Crossland, Travis Phelps, and Bradley Crossland; four great-grandchildren Jake Kelly, Isabela Phelps, Natalia Phelps and Gabriela Phelps. She was preceded in death by her daughter Beverly Diane Phelps in 1952 and husband Bill Phelps, Sr., in 1995. The family suggest memorial contributions be made in Ann's memory to Hospice of Arizona 2222 W. Northern Ave., Ste. A-100 Phoenix, AZ 85021. Arrangements are under the direction of Wickenburg Funeral Home.
