The Wickenburg Sun November 22, 2000 12:00 AM CST. BERNICE LYDIA HIRES Bernice Lydia Hires of Sun City and a former Wickenburg resident, died Nov. 18 in Sun City. She was 100 years old. Mrs. Hires died on her birthday, which was Nov. 18, 1900. She was born in Vincentown, N.J. She had lived in Arizona for the past 33 years, coming from New Jersey. Survivors include three daughters, Michelle Hires of Pisgah Forest, N.C., Doris Bergman of Palm Harbor, Fla., and Joyce Farrell of Scituate, Mass.; grandchildren Barbara Baumgarten of Hampton, N.J., Jeffrey Farrell of Chelsea, Mass., and Chip Farrell of Quincy, Mass; and great-grandchildren Shawn and Erika Baumgarten of Hampton, N.J. She was preceded in death by her husband, T. Russell, in 1974. Services will be at 1 p.m. today, Wednesday, Nov. 22, at the Wickenburg Funeral Home. Graveside services and burial will follow at the Wickenburg Municipal Cemetery. Pastor James Longstreet will officiate.
