Ernest Welch, 92, died Friday, Dec. 24, 1971, in a Phoenix nursing home, where he had resided for the past year.
Mr. Welch was born in Edwards County, Tex., on Aug. 24, 1879 and moved to Arizona in 1929, settling in the Prescott area. He was a peddler and a pioneer rancher in this area.
He is survived by eight of his twelve children – three daughters, Mrs. Etta Tensley and Mrs. Josie Cox of Oklahoma and Mrs. Eddyth Cornwell of Phoenix; five sons, Bill and Glen of Kingman, Clifford Welch of Dewey, Hez Welch of Wickenburg and Wiley Welch of Buckeye, over forty grandchildren, fifty-seven great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec, 29, 1971 at Ruffner Funeral Home with Rev. Marlin Hall of the Miller Valley Baptist Church officiating.
Interment will follow at the Mountain View Cemetery.
