MARSHALL, John Eli


The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona Wednesday, July 22, 2009 John Ell Marshall, 87, passed away at home in Prescott on July 20, 2009. He was born in Celeste, Texas, on April 15, 1922, to J.E. and Ella Mae Glasscock (Marshall). He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, J.W. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Marion (Mimi); daughter Michele of California; son Michael of Oregon; and grandchildren Natalie, David and Dominic. As well, he leaves behind sisters Lillie and Elizabeth; brothers Bill and Charles; nieces and nephews, along with many friends. John served as a sergeant in the Army Air Corps during WWII. He was a ball turret gunner on a B-17, flying 30 missions over Germany. After the war, he moved back to Southern California, where he spent over 40 years working in the dairy industry. John's many interests in life included his family and friends, sports, gardening, horseracing, bird-tending, history and traveling. Through the course of their marriage, he and his wife enjoyed many trips to various countries. John was easygoing and affectionate, and was a loving presence in the lives of his wife, children, grandchildren and friends. He was particularly known for his humorous, real-life accounts of his adventures. John's storytelling will be missed by all. A Celebration of Life will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 8, 2009, at the American Lutheran Church, 1085 Scott Dr., Prescott.
