Jean Francis Madsen Beloved “Aunt Frannie,” Jean Francis Madsen, 80, has gone on to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She passed away July 7, 2009, in Safford. Jean always put others first, and now it’s her turn. Jean was born to Florence Lane Trainor and Milan Ivanoff on Dec. 9, 1929, in Boston. Jean Francis Madsen. Jean grew up in Duxbury, Mass., with her five siblings until her early 20s, when she moved to California. Jean attended college in Boston, earning a degree in radiology. She later moved to California. Jean was a pilot and a world traveler. She owned and flew her own Cessna airplane around the country, seeing all the sights and trying new foods. Jean and Phillip moved to Safford in 1991. She worked at the Mt. Graham Regional Medical Center and volunteered at the Mt. Graham Safe House. Jean is survived by her sisters, Ann Brobston and Mary Walters; brother, George Ivanoff; her caregiver and nephew, David Brown; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Jean is preceded in death by her husband, Phillip Madsen; mother, Florence Lane Trainor; father, Milan Ivanoff; and brothers, Henry and Ted Ivanoff. A memorial service will be held at a later date at the Victory Fellowship Church. Services are under the direction of Caldwell Funeral Chapel. (Obit: EA Courier, Safford, AZ.
