Oscar Paul Barber, 74, died Friday, March 21, 2003 in Springerville.
He was born in Galesburg, Illinois, and came to Arizona 30 years ago from California. He served in World War II in the U.S.A.F. stationed in Germany for four years, and was a lifetime member of the American Legion. He was a boil maker most of his life and helped build the Cholla Power Plant in Joseph City. Oscar was a happy-go-lucky guy, he loved the outdoors, camping and fishing were a favorite pastime. His Native-American name was "Fish Hunter". He also enjoyed traveling with his wife of 33 years. He will be missed by his family and friends.
Oscar is survived by his wife, Margaret Evelyn Barber of Concho; one son, Paul Barber, Jr.; and one daughter, Janine Barber, both of California; three step-sons, Benjamin Kindig of Washington, Michael Kindig of South Dakota and Donald Kindig of Phoenix; one step-daughter, Gloria J. Kindig of Joseph City; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Owens Mortuary of Show Low handled the arrangements.
