BUTLER, Bill


The White Mountain Independent's Online Edition 07/12/05 Bill Butler, 78, of Show Low died Thursday, July 7, 2005 at home after a long fight with cancer. Bill was born in Globe Oct.10, 1926 to Floyd and Gladys Butler. He served as a Navy Seal (frogman) during World War II in the South Pacific. Bill spent many years in California and Colorado as a roofing contractor. He was a member of the Search and Rescue Team and Sheriffs Posse in Colorado. He was an avid sportsman. Bill loved the outdoors and was a guide on many hunting trips in Colorado, Alaska and Mexico. Bill is survived by his wife, Joan; children, Cheryl (Bob) Birawer of Montrose, Colo., Ted (Sharon) Butler of Grants Pass, Ore., Tessie (John) Birawer of Simi Valley, Calif., Todd (Marla) Butler of Grand Junction, Colo.; step-children, Carrie (Ken) Goodwin of Westlinn, Ore., Gregory (Connie) Fox of Mesa, Steven (Tanya) Fox of Taylor; sisters, Betty (Fred) Christensen of Grand Junction, Colo., Peggy (Richard) Porter of Show Low, Florence (Gale) Shurtz of Central; brother, Larry (Aileen) Butler of Mesa; nineteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Funeral services were held Monday, July 11 at the Show Low Downtown Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. A viewing was held Sunday, July 10 at Owens Mortuary in Show Low and one hour prior to services at the church. Interment will be in the Show Low Cemetery. Owens Mortuary of Show Low handled the arrangements
