WINDSOR, Richard Bruce


The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona Sunday, March 26, 2006 Richard Bruce Windsor, 75, entered eternal rest March 23, 2006, surrounded by his family. Richard was born March 7, 1931, in Neenah, Wis., the adopted son of Curtis Horatio and Katherine (Korthoff) Windsor. In his youth he was a gymnast and acrobat. He demonstrated trampolines for the Nissan Corp. throughout the Northeast. He served in the U.S. Army as an entertainer before moving to Phoenix in 1957. In 1966 he opened the Windsor Gymnastics Training Center, where he taught thousands of West Valley gymnasts. He was one of the founders of Arizona Women's Gymnastic Assn. In 1982, he moved his family to Prescott to co-direct the gymnastics program with his wife, Janice (Antes), at the Prescott YMCA. During his retirement he commuted to Phoenix, where he served as a bus driver for Phoenix Transit. He was a devoted father and servant of the Lord. His family and friends will miss his infectious smile and off-the-wall humor. He is survived by six children, Scott of Prescott, David of Phoenix, Doug of Scottsdale, Wendy of Prescott Valley, Gianna of Glendale, and Bill of Scottsdale. Also surviving is his sister Virginia Mann of Sun City, along with thirteen grandchildren and one great- grandchild. A celebration of his life will be held on Wednesday, March 29, at 11 a.m., with viewing one hour prior to service at Tempe Mortuary, 405 E. Southern Ave., with Pastor Tom Wick officiating. Interment will follow at the National Memorial Cemetery, 23029 N. Cave Creek Road, Phoenix. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Hospice of the Valley.
