James T. Graves, 85, died in Mesa June 9, 2003.
James was born in Boone County, Arkansas and was raised in Alpena and Harrison, Arkansas. He served in the US Army during WWII, after he was discharged he moved to Arizona and lived for many years in Lakeside where he worked as a foreman for the Navajo County Roads Department. George was one of the founders of the Lakeside Fire Department and served as the first fire chief there. After he retired he moved to Apache Junction where he lived for the past 18 years. Jim was a member of the Disabled American Veterans.
James is survived by his wife; Tashiko Kaneko Graves of Apache Junction; his son, Randy (Lisa) Johnson of Holbrook; two daughters, Connie (Bob) Smith of Safford, Rhonda (Bob) Kiepke of Gold Bar, Washington; two brothers, Robert (Bonnie) Graces of Sapulpa, Oklahoma, Johnny Graves of Alpena, Arkansas; two sisters, Betty (Myerl) Moore of Green Forest, Arkansas and Fern Ohler of Alpena, Arkansas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marion E. and Mary Jean Graves; his sons, Jaime Wade Graves and Ricki Brent Johnson; his brothers, Carl, Clyde, J.D. and Raymond; and his sisters, Cora Bell, Ula Mae and Sarah.
Grave side services will be held Friday, June 13 at 10 a.m. at the Holbrook Cemetery.
Owens Mortuary of Holbrook handled the arrangements.
