TAFOYA, Maria

The White Mountain Independent Show Low, Arizona 10/15/2004 Maria Tafoya, 84, died Oct. 7, 2004 at home in Holbrook. She was born in Winslow in 1920. She moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico when she was eight years old and lived there for 10 years before moving back to Arizona in 1939. She married Carmel Tafoya in 1945 and they made their home in Holbrook. Maria is survived by two daughters, Bea Darbe of Holbrook and Lucille Tafoya of Tempe; three sons, Ralph Tafoya of Mesa, Gilbert Tafoya of Holbrook and Tommy Tafoya of Holbrook; 13 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1980. Funeral Mass was held Tuesday, Oct. 12 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Holbrook with burial in the Holbrook Cemetery.
