LOCKETT, Pearlie Mae

The White Mountain Independent Show Low, Arizona 07/10/2007 Pearlie Mae Lockett, 86, died Wednesday, June 27, 2007 in Fresno, Calif. She was born in Tutwiler, Miss., to mother Melvina Sawyer and father Floyd Johnson Dec. 20, 1920. She moved to El Central, Calif., in 1940 where she met and married Jesse Lee Lockett. Pearlie was a mother of six children. She leaves behind one son, Willie L. (Deidra) Lockett of Fresno, Calif.; two daughters, Dorothy (Leon) Chapman-Damper of Holbrook and Venus L. Lockett of Fresno, Calif. She also leaves behind 15 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. Pearlie was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse L. Lockett; her sister, Venuse Benton; daughter Pearlie Jean, two sons, Jesse Jr. and Robert Lee Lockett; granddaughter Denise Darnell Strayhand and grandson Eric LaShun Lockett, all of whom are sorely missed. Funeral Services were held Saturday, July 7 at the St. John's Baptist Church in Holbrook. A viewing was held Friday, July 6 at Owens Mortuary in Holbrook. Interment was held in the Holbrook Cemetery.
