The Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, AZ Feb. 22, 2006, p. B8 Wayne L. Backus, age 69, born in Buchanan, Mich., passed away on Feb. 16 in Wickenburg. He was one of eight brothers and three sisters. He served in the U.S. Air Force for 11 years and resided in California after his military service until coming to Wickenburg in 1983. Wayne enjoyed bowling, model airplanes and fishing. He was also a member of the American Legion. He is survived by brother Victor Backus; sister Florence Schroede, both of Buchanan, Mich., and brother and sister-in-law Ernest and Jean Backus of Niles, Mich. Memorial Services will be held Thursday, Feb. 23 at 11 a.m. at the Wickenburg Funeral Home Arrangements are under the direction of Wickenburg Funeral Home.
