Mr. Sorensen
Mr. Sorensen, who was born in Lexington, Kentucky, moved to Tucson in 1951. He graduated from Tucson High and earned a bachelor's degree from Grand Canyon College in 1958. He attended Arizona State University in 1959 and earned a master's in education administration from the University of Arizona in 1965.
Mr. Sorensen served in the Arizona Air National Guard from 1958 through 1961.
Since his retirement from education, he spent much of his free time traveling and playing golf, the son said: "He loved golf and he loved his grandkids."
Mr. Sorensen and his second wife, Doris, whom he married in 1981 after the death of his first wife, Carole, traveled to Europe, Alaska and the Caribbean.
He was active in his church, working diligently the past several years to get Rincon Mountain Presbyterian Church, 2452 N. Pantano Road, established, the son said. Dedication is set for Sept. 11.
Mr. Sorensen is also survived by his son Craig Sorensen of Globe; his wife, Doris, of Tucson; and seven grandchildren in Globe and Gilbert.
