WALKER, Donny LeRoy


The White Mountain Independent Show Low, Arizona 08/01/2006 Donny LeRoy Walker, 66, died at his home in Pima, in the presence of his family, after a short illness of pancreatic cancer. He was born Nov. 28, 1939 to Jesse Eaton Walker and Lottie Marie Stallings in Farmington, N.M. He lived most of his life in Springerville and Eagar, moving to Pima just a few years ago for health reasons. During his early years he worked for Whiting Brothers Sawmill and for the Operating Engineers Local 428. Later he was employed for the Apache County Roads Department. He retired from there four years ago. Since retiring, he and his wife followed a lifelong dream and traveled to many places in their motorhome. Their last trip was to Memphis, Tenn. last year. LeRoy was a quiet man, a man of few words, but his word was as good as gold. His handshake meant honor and integrity. His survivors are his wife of 44 years, Teresa Nadine "Dena," Pima; son Marlin (Shirlene) Walker, Pima; daughters Kellyn (Roy) Solis, Pima; and Barbara, Wilcox; eight grandchildren: Aaron, Preston, Donny, Kandice, Jessie, Dusty, Chelsie and Taylor; sister Charlene Cherry and three brothers Raymond Walker, Verlyn "Dean" Walker, and Danny Maxwell. Preceding him in death are a baby son, Donny, his parents and brothers Jesse Walker and (twins) Glen and Gwen Walker. Funeral services were held July 29 at the First Baptist Church, Springerville. Interment was at the Eagar Cemetery. Burnham Mortuary, Eagar, was in charge of arrangements.
