Frances Rose Parks, 87, passed away on Jan. 6, 2005 in Ridgecrest, Calif. She was born in Mesa, Ariz. on Sept. 12, 1917, and lived on the Diamond Bar Ranch of Wickenburg during the early 1930s. Her father was Frank Cane, a cowboy, and her mother was Olive (Gibson) Cane, a lady of society.
Frances moved to the Upland/Ontario, Calif. area in 1934 and graduated from Chaffey Junior College in 1936. She was registrar at Chaffey Junior College from 1936-1943 and Secretary to the Director 1948-1949. She worked for Robert A. Thall, C.P.A., for 13 years and for the City of Ontario Fire Department for 13 years. She was a member of Foothill Bible Church of Upland, Calif., and the Upland Travelers Club, in which she held various offices and Pomona Roamers Club. She was able to travel all over the world. Her favorite activities were swimming and gardening, for which she was known for her flowers.
She is survived by her daughter, Judy Crawford; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and her former husband, Charles Parks.
