Arizona Daily Sun Flagstaff, Arizona Sunday, June 14, 2009 Julie T. Pickens, who lived part time in Flagstaff, died May 7, 2009. Mrs. Pickens was born in Baltimore, Md., and was raised in Virginia. She graduated from Blackstone College for Women in Virginia. She is also a graduate of the Strayer Business College, in Baltimore. She was married to Dennis Knight Pickens in 1942 in the Washington National Cathedral, later residing in New York and Connecticut. The family moved to Phoenix in 1966. She later married Sidney E. Martin of Phoenix, who died in 1992. Mrs. Pickens is survived by son Dennis C. Pickens of Chandler; and dear friend and companion Zed Veale of Flagstaff. She was preceded in death by son Brooks E. Pickens. Services already have taken place. Inurnment was in the Pickens' niche at Green Acres Cemetery.
