Laurence J. Simmons Born in Brooklyn, NY on October 24, 1930, died September 17, 2009 in Tucson.
Beloved husband of 56 years, Frances June Simmons; devoted father of Ronald (Caren, M.D.) Simmons of Phoenix, Jerald (Irina) Simmons, M.D., of Houston, TX; and Russell (Julie) Simmons of Deerfield, IL; dear brother of Charles (Marla, PhD) Simmons of Tucson and Sherry Levinson of New York, NY and brother-in-law of Trudy (Howard, M.D.) Schwartz of Tucson; cherished grandfather of Ari, Camille, Talia, Eli, Cole, Daniel, Austin and Ethan Simmons.
Mr. Simmons served in the US Marine Corp during the Korean Conflict. After residing in Cleveland, Ohio for over 40 years, Mr. Simmons moved to what he called paradise, Tucson, AZ in 1994. An Executive of Patio Enclosures, he held positions as Vice President of Sales, VP of the Cleveland, Ohio branch and prior to his retirement was the head of Research and Development.
He had a passion for woodworking, photography and a world traveler, having visited 78 countries. Mr. Simmons spent many years as an Auxiliary Policeman and Volunteer Fireman in Ohio and continued to donate his selfless time and talents throughout his life.
Services today, September 18, 2009, 11:00 a.m. at EVERGREEN MORTUARY, N. Oracle & W. Miracle Mile, with Rabbi Robert Eisen officiating. Interment to follow in the Congregation Anshei Israel Section of Evergreen Cemetery.
