HEDGES, Velma Nadine

Heritage Funeral Chapels, Arizona Velma Nadine Hedges, 80, a 78 year resident of the west Phoenix valley, passed away peacefully at her home in Goodyear, Arizona, October 6, 2009. Nadine was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Halton L. Hedges. She is survived by her children, John D. Hedges (Janet), Ted K. Hedges (Donna), Gary L. Hedges (Angel), Jane Carmichael (Ron), and Susie Brown (Shelton); 19 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Mary Lou Munsterman. Nadine leaves a legacy of dedicated support for local scholarship fund raising entities, anti-child abuse campaigns, local food banks, and the Arizona Trucking Association. When asked what her life's greatest accomplishment was, her answer was most assuredly, her family. Traveling in general, but especially, traveling annually to her beloved cabin in Sterling, Alaska, was a relished hobby of hers. Funeral Services will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 13277 W. Thomas Rd. Goodyear, on Saturday, October 10, 2009, Visitation 10:00-10:45 am and Services 11:00 am. Interment immediately following at Holy Cross Cemetery, 10045 W. Thomas Rd. Avondale.
