Genevieve Carol Smith, 76, formerly of Winslow and Flagstaff, died Sunday, Sept. 13, 2009, in Peoria.
Ms. Smith was born Nov. 20, 1932, to Royall Stewart and Genevieve Lee Smith in Gallup, N.M. At the age of 2, she moved with her family to Albuquerque, and then they lived in Denver for a short time before settling in Winslow.
She attended Winslow schools and graduated with an associate's degree from Northland Pioneer College. She later attended Northern Arizona University, where she received her master's degree. She worked at the Navajo Music Store which she later co-owned.
She was a member of the Soroptimist International of Winslow and the First United Methodist Church. She will be remembered for her sense of humor.
She is survived by several cousins.
A visitation will be Monday from 9 to 9:45 a.m., with a funeral service following at the Norvel Owens Mortuary Chapel, 1505 W. Third St., in Winslow.
