West Valley View March 25, 2005 John F. Derby, 78, of Goodyear died March 9, 2005, at Sun Health Hospice in Sun City West. Mr. Derby was born April 11, 1926, in Flint, Mich. He lived in Flint until he moved to Goodyear in 1998. An Air Force veteran who in World War II, he later worked for the United States Post Office and for 30 years as director of safety and security for General Motors World Parts Operation. Mr. Derby was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary. He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Marilyn; one daughter, Pauline J. Kearney of Kokomo, Ind.; one son, Jack Michael Derby of Flushing, Mich.; one sister, Jean O'Hara of Mercer Island, Wash.; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. No service will be held. Interment will be in Salem, Ore. Memorials may be sent in his name to The Church at Litchfield Park, 300 N. Old Litchfield Road, Litchfield Park, AZ 85340. Crystal Rose Funeral Home made the local arrangements.
