Geraldine "Jerry" (Beleu) Christenson, 88, of Port Townsend, Wash., died Oct. 13, 2009. Born May 26, 1921, in Wichita Falls, Texas, to Esta Lee (Emerson) and Daniel Lewis Beleu, Jerry grew up in Oklahoma.
After graduation from high school in Shawnee, she went to business school and at the beginning of the war took a job with the Department of the Navy in Washington, D.C. After the war she worked for the Civil Aeronautics Administration in Seattle, Wash., where she met her husband.
Moves with her husband from Seattle to Spokane, Wash., Eugene and Medford, Ore., Los Angeles and Coronado, Calif., while raising two sons and a daughter kept her busy for the next 40 years. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi and the Toastmistress Club, a public library volunteer and enjoyed playing golf and bridge and working crossword puzzles.
Her final years were spent in Prescott, Ariz., and then Port Townsend, Wash.
She is survived by brother Richard Beleu of Macomb, Okla.; sister Mildred Arnold of Middlebury, Conn.; son Andrew of Prescott, Ariz.; daughter Jill of Brinnon, Wash.; stepchildren. C. James Christenson of Fountain Valley, Calif., Karen Swanberg of Camano Island, Wash., and Kristen Hall of Central Point, Ore. She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Carl Christenson, and her son Jon.
