George W. Spink, 84, of Cottonwood, passed away at his home on October 20. He was born January 17, 1925 in Lodi, California. He is survived by his wife Patti Spink; children Genie (John) Beecher, Judy (Dennis) Clarkson, Gary (Vicki) Spink, Cory (Greg) Grinaker; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
George was very active in the community of Cottonwood. He was the Sight & Hearing chairman for the Cottonwood Lions Club for the last seven years. The club bestowed upon him the Melvin Jones Fellow Award for his dedication to humanitarian services.
He also volunteered at the Old Town Mission where he served for more than six years. He helped with the food drives, served lunches and helped with the newsletter.
A memorial service will be held at the Club House at Pine Shadows at 11 AM on Thursday, November 12. VFW Post 7400 will provide military honors to recognize George's service to his country as a World War II veteran.
The family asks that any recognition in George's memory be sent to the Cottonwood Lions Club Foundation, P O Box 516, Cottonwood, AZ 86326 to assist deserving persons to receive eyeglasses and exams, the program that George administered for seven years.
