Mary Duran Norvell, 78, of Phoenix, a social worker, died Dec. 23, 1999. She was born in St. Johns and was a World War II Army veteran. 

Survivors include her daughters, Charlene Sanderson, Loretta Armijo and Joanne Martin; brothers, Carlos, Abelardo and Tony Duran; and one grandchild. 

Rosary: 10:15 a.m. Monday, St. Louis the King Catholic Church, 4331 W. Maryland Ave., Phoenix, with Mass following. Camelback Sunset Chapel Funeral Home.
