ZIEGLER, Allen W.

The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona Wednesday, January 1, 2003 Allen W. Ziegler, age 89, passed away peacefully on December 27, 2002, in Tucson, Arizona, where he resided with his niece, Roxanne Ziegler. He was born December 18, 1913 in Canton, Ohio, son of the late Ira and May (Lash) Ziegler. He was married to Estella Marie Ziegler for 56 years until her death in 1996. Allen was employed by Sears Roebuck & Co. in Canton for 27 years. In 1996 he and wife, Marie, moved to Phoenix, Arizona where he was employed for 11 years by the Creighton School District as head custodian, retiring in 1977. Allen and Marie spent 23 summers at their cabin in Prescott where they where members of the Prescott Christian Church. Allen graciously volunteered for many years at the United Christian Youth Camp. Allen is survived by two sisters, Kathryn Simler, of Sherrodsville, Ohio and Zoe Purcell of Canton, Ohio. He is also survived by nine nieces and nephews, nine great-nieces and nephews and one great-great-nephew. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, January 4, 2003 at 1:00 p.m. in the Reed Funeral Home, 705 Raff Road S.W. Canton, Ohio. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Calling hours will be Friday from 5:00-8:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
