2 Tucson women die in crash near Prescott.
Two Tucson women, one the mother of a former Oro Valley town manager, died in a two-vehicle accident east of Prescott on Wednesday, authorities said.
Kathleen Devner and Rene Johnson, both 82, died when Devner's car collided with a car driven by Henry Lorenz, 39, of Phoenix, state Department of Public Safety officials said.
The accident occurred on State Route 69, officials said.
Lorenz suffered a broken chest bone and was in stable condition at a hospital, officials said.
Devner's son, Jon, was the Oro Valley town manager from 1986 to 1992.
Devner and Johnson took a trip to the Prescott area where they planned to stay for several days, said Mary Kay Devner, her daughter-in-law.
"She was kind of a history buff and a collector of Arizona memorabilia. It was to be a fun trip," Mary Kay Devner said.
She said Devner moved to Tucson in 1951. Funeral services will be private.
