Mina Jewell Brooks, 95, of Avondale died April 5, 2007.

Mrs. Brooks was born Feb. 12, 1921, in Lexington, Okla., to Emma and Herbert Murphy. She and her husband, Cecil Perkins, moved to the Avondale area - known at the time as Coldwater - in 1929.

Mrs. Brooks is survived by two daughters, Dorothy Chisum of Avondale and Barbara Miller of LaGrange, Texas; five sons, Jess and Edward Perkins of Happy Jack, Will Perkins of Glendale, Edwin Perkins of Puyallup, Wash., and Larry Brooks of Mesa; two sisters, Bessie Lempke and Jean Underwood; two brothers, Noel and Ray Murphy; 23 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren; and 20 great-great-grandchildren.

A service will be held at 10 a.m. today at Thompson's Valley West Funeral Chapel, 926 S. Litchfield Road in Goodyear, which made the arrangements.
