LOWRY, Ron (Butch)


West Valley View, Avondale, Arizona February 16, 2007 Ron "Butch" Lowry, 62, of Buckeye died Feb. 6, 2007, in Goodyear. Mr. Lowry was born July 6, 1944, in Sayre, Okla., and was raised in Douglas and Roswell, N.M. He was drafted into the Army in 1964 and served in France and Germany. While in the service, he worked with the Wade Jackson Organization backing various country music artists on U.S.O. tours After serving in the Army, Mr. Lowry settled in Phoenix, where he was offered a recording contract with Gene Autry's Republic Records. In 1970, he was placed on "most promising male vocalist" lists by three publications: Cash Box, Record World and Billboard. Mr. Lowry married his wife, Sue, on Aug. 3, 2005, in Honolulu. He is survived his wife, Sue; one son, Joey of Denver; two sisters, Lou Ann of El Paso, Texas, and Linda of Tucson; and one brother, Larry of Phoenix. A musical benefit for Mr. Lowry will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. Feb. 25 at Rustler's Roost, 8383 S. 48th St. in Phoenix. Memorials may be sent to the Ron Lowry Memorial Fund at any US Bank branch.
