Willie James Cooper, 57, of Salem, Ore., and formerly of Buckeye, died Jan. 23, 2007.
Mr. Cooper was born May 9, 1949, in Crockett, Texas, and moved to Arizona on June 1, 1963. He was a veteran of the Army and served inVietnam, achieving the rank of sargeant.
Sgt. Cooper earned several service medals, including the National Defense Service medal, the Army Commendation medal and the Vietnam Campaign and Service medal.
Mr. Cooper is survived by one daughter, LaToya of Buckeye; two sons, Labe of Salem, Ore., and Willie of Tolleson; his mother, Helen of Crockett, Texas; two sisters, Glendia and Joyce of Crockett, Texas; four brothers, Viel Jr., Terry, Clyde and Lionel of Crockett, Texas; and seven grandchildren.
A service was held Jan. 29, 2007, in Salem, Ore. The Rev. Dr. Jeffrey Metcalfe Sr. of Buckeye officiated.
