Shirley E. Bishop, 74, of Murphysboro, Ill., and formerly of Avondale, died Jan. 23, 2007, at Oak Grove Rehabilitation & Skilled Care Facility in Carbondale, Ill.
Mrs. Bishop was born May 9, 1932, in Marshall, Mich., to Beulah and Joseph Norton. She married Edward R. Bishop on Aug. 14, 1954, in Tolleson, and lived in Avondale for more than 40 years.
Mrs. Bishop was a member of Church of the Nazarene and American Legion Post No. 127 Ladies Auxiliary in Murphysboro, Ill.
Mrs. Bishop was preceded in death Sept. 1, 1999, by her husband, Edward.
She is survived by three sons, Rudy of Phoenix, Rex of Avondale and Alan of Prescott Valley; one sister, Joyce Anglin of Sumner, Wash.; one brother, Bruce Norton of Puyallup, Wash.; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
A service will be held at 11 a.m. today at Pettett Funeral Home in Murphysboro. The Rev. Bill Webb will officiate. Interment will be at Boucher Cemetery, also in Murphysboro. Memorials may be sent to Church of the Nazarene, 12 N. Seventh St., Murphysboro, IL 62966
