Two Mine Workers Killed In Accident
R. H. Hesterberg, 22 years old, and Clarence E Houston, 28, were killed at Victor, Colo., when they were crushed between mine timbers and the cage in which they were being lifted to the surface of the Cresson Mine. The men were in a group of miners being brought to the surface as working shifts changed hours.
Hesterberg, who came here from Waterloo, Illinois, was riding on the top deck of the cage with several other men. He is believed to have suffered from a fainting spell, falling between the cage and the mine timbers. His body was dragged back and it struck Houston, who was being hoisted in a lower deck. Houston also was caught between the cage and the timbers.
