STATE MOURNS PASSING OF A. G. WALKER WHICH OCCURRED HERE SUNDAY. FINAL RITES WEDNESDAY
It was a loss to the entire state of Arizona when Albert Galiton Walker died in Community Hospital here at 11:53 p. m. Sunday. Mr Walker, who had lived in this state since 1907, was warden of the Arizona State Prison for nine years and supperintendent of the Arizona Highway Patrol from 1946 until his resignation last summer. It is generally recognized that the high standards of the prison and the patrol today are due, in large part, to his administration.
RITES IN GLENDALE
Friends viewed the body in the Wickenburg Chapel Wednesday morning after which it was removed to Glendale where services were conducted at 2 p. m. at the Leonard Chapel with burial in Glendale Memorial Cemetery.
Mr Walker was born July 10, 1888, near Copperas Cove, Tex. When he came to Arizona in 1907 he was a peace officer in Graham County, then operated a ranch nine miles east of Wickenburg on the Constellation Road from 1920 until he became the state prison warden in 1933. His son, Ira, now operates the ranch. Mr Walker moved back to Wickenburg last October when his health failed and had been living in the Barnette Addition.
