Visitation will be held Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2003, 10-Noon, Newcomer Family Mortuary, 6812 E. Thomas Rd., Scottsdale. Services to follow at noon, with a committal service at The National Memorial Cemetery at 1:30. Newcomer Family Mortuary of Scottsdale assisted the family. ---------------------------------- The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona Sunday, January 5, 2003 Joy Lea Ries, 76, of Phoenix, Arizona, passed away January 1, 2003 in Phoenix. Joy was born July 21, 1926 in Raymondville, Texas. She was a X-Ray Technician and Secretary, and also an Assistant at Grethe Sullivans School of Dance. She is preceded in death by her parents, Warren C. Millard and Ida D. Matherne, and her step-father, Joe B. Smith. Survivors include her husband, Howard B. Ries, sons, Howard Eugene Ries and Jerry Wayne Ries; daughters, Dora Beth Lee and Deborah Lea Friga, seven grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 7th, 10:00 a.m. until noon at Newcomer Family Mortuary. Services will be held Tuesday, January 7th, 12:00 noon at Newcomer Family Mortuary, 6812 E. Thomas Rd., Scottsdale, Az. A special thanks to Hospice of the Valley.
