COOR, Cleo Barbara

West Valley View, Avondale, Arizona January 6, 2009 Cleo Barbara Cosper Coor, 86, of Goodyear died Dec. 29, 2008. Mrs. Coor was born June 20, 1922, in Springerville. She married Chauncey B. Coor in 1941. She graduated in 1943 from Arizona State College, now Northern Arizona University, with a bachelor's degree in teaching. She later received her master's from NAU. She was an elementary school teacher until retirement in 1984. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Avondale where she played the organ and was the music director for many years, until she retired a few years ago. She is survived by one son, Roger B.; three daughters, Caren B., Judith Coor-Ravella and Joslyn Coor Brown; two sisters, JoAnne Chastain and Rose Awtry; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Services were Jan. 3 [2009]in Avondale. Memorials may be made to the Coor Scholarship fund at Agua Fria High School, 530 E. Riley Dr., Avondale, AZ 85323; or the music department at Christ Community United Methodist Church of Avondale, 104 W. Western Ave., Avondale, AZ 85323. Arrangements were made by Thompson's Valley West Funeral Chapel in Goodyear.
