Dorothy Marie Povejsil, 82, of Litchfield Park died Jan. 19, 2009, in Litchfield Park.
She was born Oct. 1, 1926, to Ralph and Alice Biddick in Plattville, Wisconsin.
Mrs. Povejsil, known as Dorsey, grew up in Iowa and Wisconsin. She earned a bachelor's degree in economics from the University of Wisconsin in 1949.
She married Don in Madison, Wis., on June 19, 1948. During their retirement, they moved to Litchfield Park.
She was involved in the Philanthropic Educational Organization, the Girl Scouts and the YWCA. In Pittsburgh, Pa., she co-led the establishment of Vintage Senior Center, operated the center's tax advisory committee, and served as its board chairman for many of its formative years. After moving to Arizona, she served on the advisory board of the West Valley Arts Council for more than 10 years. She was active in the Vestry and Altar Guild at St. Peter's Episcopal Church.
A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Litchfield Park, followed by interment in the church columbarium and a lunch reception.
