West Valley View, Avondale, Arizona February 6, 2009 Gene Smith, 57, of Goodyear died Feb. 1, 2009, in Goodyear. Mr. Smith was born February 25, 1951, in Napa Valley, Calif., to Harold and Winnie. He married Connie Tripp on June 10, 1988, in Des Moines, Iowa. He moved to Arizona 18 years ago and was manager at the Maytag store in Goodyear for the last six years. He also worked for Tempo, Montgomery Ward and owned Gambles in Hastings, Neb., and Grand Island, Neb. He is survived by his wife, Connie R.; three sons, Beau, Eric and Trent Georgiana, one daughter, Wendy Radtke; his mother, Winnie; one sister, Becky Mickey; six brothers, Stephen, Randy, Allen, Gerry, Perry and Wes; and five grandchildren. Services are private. Memorials may be made to Sun Valley Animal Shelter, 7150 N. 110th Ave., Glendale, AZ 85307. Arrangements were made by Thompson's Valley West Funeral Chapel in Goodyear.
