Death of Hon. T. J. Bidwell
We are in receipt of news of the death of Hon. T. J. Bidwell, which took place in San Francisco on the 8th inst., while undergoing a delicate surgical operation.
Mr. Bidwell came to Prescott with the first pioneers, and was member of the second Legislature.
Subsequently he removed to Yuma county and was appointed Probate Judge, holding the office two years.
While a resident of Yuma county he married a young teacher in the public school, by whom he had two children, now living with relatives at Gold Hill, Nevade, the mother dying three years ago.
In 1875 Mr. Bidwell left Yuma county and settled at Thompson Valley in this county. Again in 1878 Mr. Bidwell removed to Pima county and was interested with his partner, Robert Gird, in the great Contention mine at Tombstone.
He was the first Justice of the Peace in Tombstone, was also deputy postmaster there until a short time since, when he threw up everything to seek medical aid in San Francisco. Mr. B. leaves considerable property both in this and Pima counties.
