Samuel S. Shull, a stock man of the Mogollon Mountains, shot down in
his Cabin
Sheriff Mulvenon received a telegram this afternoon, from Henry
Mehrens, at Camp Verde, stating that Samuel S. Shull, a well known
stock man of the Mogollon mountains, had been found dead in his cabin,
shot through the head with a shot gun.
His ranch was bout two miles west of the Pine Springs, on the
Mogollons, thirty miles above Beaverhead, on the old stage road. No
particulars of the affair are given, but it is known that about a week
ago Shull had trouble with one of his neighbors, whom he beat pretty
severely.
On receipt of the news Sheriff Mullvenon immediately started to the
scene of the murder, and will institute a thorough investigation.
Deceased formerly in Prescott and owned property here, where he was
known. He was 38 years old.
Transcriber's note: Samuel was born about 1848 in New Jersey per the
1880 census records for Yavapai County, Arizona.
