The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona February 2, 2003 Mrs. Colesta U. Cooke, age 75 of Phoenix died Jan. 28, 2003. A native of Douglass, Tx and was a retired educator in the Roosevelt School District. Survivors include 5 children; Carolyn Malone, Tyrone Cooke, Denise Washington, Brenda Cooke and Velma Simpson; 3 sisters, Myrtle Lee Roland, Ruby McFarland and Anita Morrison; 8 brothers, Leonard, Marion, Dolvin, Doyle, Luther, Eisenhower, Travis and Frederick Upshaw; 14 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. The family will receive friends on Monday, Feb. 3, 2003 from 6p.m.- 8p.m. at Universal Memorial Center, 1100 E. Jefferson St. Services will be held on Tuesday, 10:00 a.m. from the First Institutional Baptist Church, 1141 E. Jefferson St. Interment will follow at Greenwood Memory Lawn Cemetery.
