KELLEY, Lloyd H.


The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona February 2, 2003 Lloyd H. Kelley, 78, passed away Jan. 16, 2003. He retired from Superior Tank and Construction Co. (Rheem Mfg, Inc) after 38 yrs, to start his own company "Kelley Construction Co." Lloyd served his country during WWII, mostly in Italy with the 59th Artillery Battalion. Looking forward to celebrating the opening of the WWII Memorial in May 2004, LLoyd & his wife, Geneva, contributed to its construction. LLoyd was an accomplished businessman surrounded by a loving family and many friends. He & Geneva were residents of Lebanon, OR and Sun Lakes AZ, summering in Oregon and wintering in Arizona. Lloyd had an ability of always helping those in need: sharing stories about life and never complaining about his illnesses. In fact, he always responded when asked about his health by saying, "fair to middlin". Lloyd will always be remembered as "Kelley", the man with a smile from his heart, goodness in his soul and a strong handshake. He has gone to share his everlasting life with the Lord. Surviving family members: wife, Geneva (60 years of marriage as of Nov. 5, 2002); daughters & spouses: Lois & Sam Elfgen, Joyce & Melvin Bantau, JoAnn & Richard Longwell; 5 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; two brothers; two sisters and numerous nieces & nephews. The family asks any donations be sent to Tri-City Calvary Church, Tempe, AZ; First Assembly of God Church, Lebanon, OR or the American Heart Assn. Lloyd was laid to rest Jan. 22, 2003 at Veterans' Nat'l Cemetery, Cave Creek, AZ. (Courtesy of Pat Wilson)
