Barbara Ellen (Fisher) Werden-Baker, 83, died on Dec. 11, 2009, after suffering a major stroke in Flagstaff. She was born May 9, 1926 in Fort Cobb, Oklahoma, the daughter of William J. Fisher and Beulah (nee) Clark. She was baptized in 1965 and confirmed those vows in the Lutheran church in Payson on July 30, 2005. She worked as a pharmacy tech, in food service and catering. After retiring, she volunteered numerous hours at Boswell hospital, and at Fountain of Life Church in the choir and driving the golf cart to pick up many handicapped people in the parking lot and bring them to the front door. Mrs. Werden-Baker is survived by her son, William Werden; her daughter, Mary Ellen Baker-Clark; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brother, Elmon; her husband of 45 years, Ernest R. Baker; and her son, Donald Werden. A funeral service will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Fountain of Life Lutheran Church, 15630 Del Webb Blvd., in Sun City. Burial will follow at 3:30 p.m. at East Resthaven Cemetery.
