HAWSE, Helen Catherine

Heritage Funeral Chapel, Peoria, Arizona Helen Catherine Hawse, 88, of Peoria, AZ died December 8, 2009. Helen was born March 11, 1921 in Indianapolis, IN. She studied Electrical Engineering at Purdue University. Helen married our dad Oren in 1941, and they moved from Illinois to Eloy, AZ in 1949. Mom gave much of her time to multiple charities including the AZ Crippled Children's Society, American Red Cross, Easter Seal Society, and St. Vincent de Paul Society. She was very active in the Catholic Church. She also served as Vice Mayor in Eloy, AZ. Helen retired from Sun Health Corporation in 1991 and went on to volunteer over 7,000 hours at Boswell Memorial Hospital. Helen was preceded in death by her parents Paul & Catherine Martin, her loving husband Oren, and her 2 brothers Paul & Bob Martin. Mom is survived by her 3 children Tom, Mary and Cathy; 5 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Visitation is scheduled for Sunday, December 13, 2009 from 2:00-4:00pm at Heritage Funeral Chapel, 6830 W. Thunderbird Rd. Peoria. Services will be held on Monday, December 14, 2009 at 10:00 am at St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church, 9728 W. Palmeras Dr. Sun City. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to Odyssey Hospice in Peoria, AZ.
