John Marks Huemmrich, 91, of Scottsdale, Arizona, passed away peacefully January 10, 2003 in Scottsdale. He was born May 19, 1911, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
He was a World War II Veteran serving in the United States Army.
He was preceded in death by his parent's Frederick and Elmo.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 68 years, Harriet and son, James; his sister, Dorothy; nephews, Donald and John, and niece, Carol of Ohio.
He owned several service stations in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania for many years; and after retiring, moved to Phoenix, Arizona, where he became Director of Corporate Relations for the U-Haul Corporation, once again retiring at the age of 74. He helped to organize and later was President and Executive Director of the National Congress of Petroleum Retailers, and was inducted into the Independent Service Station Dealers' Hall of Fame in 1995. John was Master of the London Chapter of the Pennsylvania State Grange. He was an active member of the Paradise Valley Christian Church.
John dearly loved his famly and will always be loved and deeply missed by all. We thank him for sharing his life with us.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 14, 2003 from 7:00-9:00 p.m. at Green Acres Mortuary, 401 N. Hayden Road, Scottsdale, Arizona, and a visitation on Wednesday, January 15 from 9:00-10:30 a.m. at the Paradise Valley Christian Church, 16201 N. 22nd Street, Phoenix, Arizona, with a memorial celebration of John's life at 11:00 a.m. at the church.
