Morris M. Gabaldon, 64, died peacefully Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2009, in Phoenix after fighting a brave battle with stomach cancer.
He was born July 4, 1945, in Magdalena, N.M., to Juan C. and Perfeta Martinez Gabaldon. He was raised in Springerville where he attended the Round Valley schools. He later moved to Phoenix where he worked for and retired from the Arizona State Highway Department.
Morris was the most gentle, kind and generous man who never hurt anybody. A devout Catholic, he had the greatest love for his faith, family and friends. He was an avid Dallas Cowboy fans and loved country music, the mountains, desert and the ocean.
Morris was cherished and loved by his brother, sisters, nieces and nephews and will be missed dearly by all who knew him.
He is survived by his brother Pete (Theresa) Gabaldon of Bernalillo, N.M.; sisters Feliz Landavazo of Belen, N.M., O'livia Baca of Albuquerque, N.M., Julia Florence of Los Lunas, N.M., Victoria Chavez of Phoenix, Confie LeSueur of Springerville; godsons Shay DeVerse and Roman Vitale and 34 nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Eustaquio Gabaldon and sister Rosalina Armijo.
A memorial mass was held Saturday, Dec. 12, at St. Peters Catholic Church in Springerville with interment at the Springerville cemetery.
