MARTINEK, John Patrick

The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona Wednesday, January 15, 2003 John Patrick Martinek, 76, of Mesa, Arizona and formerly of Scottsdale, passed away on Friday, Jan. 10, 2003. Survived by his wife, Joanne (nee Harris); daughters Mary Connell (John), Ellen Straine (Jeff), Anne Law (Steve), and Amy Schuster (Dave); sons John and Jeff; grandchildren Max and Nelson Connell, William Law, Sam, Tom, Jack, and Elizabeth Schuster, Jake, Mia, & Lily Martinek. John retired from the U.S. Post Office where he was known as "Runnin' John" at Indian School Station at 7th St. and Highland in Phoenix. He also spent many years working bingo at St. Daniel's Catholic Church in Scottsdale. He loved to cook a good meal and specialized in prime rib and bbq ribs. A Mass in celebration of his life will be held 10 a.m. Fri. Jan. 17, All Saints Church, 1534 N. Recker, Mesa, Az. Donations Heartland Hospice or American Cancer Society in lieu of flowers.
