Sandra (Rocky) Schoenstein, age 56, passed peacefully away, surrounded by loved ones, on January 10, 2003 after a brave battle with lung cancer. She was born and raised in Dayton, Ohio, but lived her adult life in Arizona.
She worked as a paralegal at the Law Office of Gammage and Burnham. She was a talented artist, a published author, and a devout Christian with dreams of starting a summer Sunday School Program at Mission Bell Methodist Church.
She married Dick Schoenstein in 1994, and he lovingly admits that (despite the limited closet space) he always had the best-dressed girl in town! Rocky was a happy, loving, and faithful wife. She was also a caring and devoted daughter to Ella Mae Howell, and the world's best mother, mentor, and friend to Cindy Hill, her only child. Her granddaughter, Jenny Hill was the light of her life. Jenny shares Sandra's love and talent for art and writing.
Her brother Howard "Buck" Howell, his wife Ann, and their children Kevin, Becky and James held a special place in Sandra's Heart. Buck supported and advocated for Sandra during her battle with cancer.
Sandra genuinely loved her friends and co-workers and was never too busy for them. This affection was returned to her in the abundant support, love and care she received during her illness. Sincere thanks to family, friends, Mission Bell & Gammage and Burnham for being there to support her.
Services will be held Saturday, January 18 at 10:30 a.m. at Mission Bell Church, 4645 W. Bell Rd.
Please make donations to the Mission Bell Summer Sunday School program in lieu of flowers.
