GREER, John Harris

The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ 02/08/2008 John Harris Greer, 75, died Feb. 1, 2008, in St. Johns. He was born Sept. 25, 1932, in St. Johns to Leland C. and Geneva Crosby Greer. Harris was a lifelong resident of St. Johns. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force. Harris retired as a truck driver for Swift. As a young man, he enjoyed calf roping. He also enjoyed horse racing. Harris is survived by his son, Curtis Heap; daughters Renee Alvarez, Cathy Young and Valerie Canfield; brothers Terry R. Greer and Nick L. Greer; and sister Laurie Jo Rhoton. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Milford Leland Greer and Howard Michael Greer; grandparents John Harris and Orpha Nicoll Greer and John Alma Crosby and Alice LeSueur. A graveside service was held Thursday, Feb. 7, at 11 a.m. at the St. Johns Cemetery. Burnham Mortuary of St. Johns handled the arrangements.
