Mollie "Virginia" Lindsey (Floyd); known to all that loved her as Mema, died April 6, 2005 in Lakeside.
Virginia was born July 23, 1923 to William Riley Floyd and Nora Azalee Tucker in Hillsboro, Coffee County, Tennessee. After graduating high school in 1942, she worked as a nurse's aid and at a shoe factory. She then signed with Anderson Aircraft School and became one of the "Molly the Riveters" during World War II. She was sent to Williams Air Field in Arizona, to work under the supervision of her future husband, Pleasant James Lindsey (Pepa).
Shortly after the birth of their first son, she resided in Marana, Arizona where she worked for the school district as a cafeteria worker and a bus driver for many years. While there, she had many callings in the Primary and Relief Society for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Virginia moved to St. Johns, Arizona in 1974 where she worked in various positions, but became best loved while working at Triple S Market.
She is survived by: five sons, Anthony "Tony" Wayne (Yolanda), Phillip Arthur (Linda), James William (Margaret), Gregory Wade (Lisa), Darrell Eugene (Eileen); and five daughters, Janice Kay Conner (Ronald), Gwendolyn Sherwood (Roger), Julia Ann Harn (Paul), Sheila Elaine Hay, Nora Yvette Greer (Jeffery). One sister, Margie Floyd Weaver of Dardanelle, Arkansas, 38 grand children and 64 great grand children.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters: Lillie Maria Floyd and Wilma Evelyn Limbough, and two brothers: William Alex and Benjamin Franklin Floyd. Her grandson Abraham Juarez Lindsey and two great grand children: Everett James Lindsey and Dixie Alexandra Lindsey.
Arrangements are handled by Burnham Jewkes Mortuary in St. Johns, Arizona. Services were held Saturday, April 9 at the LDS Stake Center in St. Johns, Arizona at 11 a.m. Internment will be held at the St. Johns Cemetery.
