GONZALES, Jose (Joe)

Jose "Joe" D. Gonzales, 75, of Phoenix AZ, went home to be with the Lord on August 28, 2002, Born March 19, 1927 to his parents Pedro and Ruth ("Cuca") Gonzales, Jose was a native and lifelong resident of Phoenix. A mason contractor for over 40 years, his masonry skills were most impressive. There are many treasured reminders of his outstanding masonry work evident throughout the valley. Joe married Tillie Morales in 1947. He considered his greatest achievements in life to be his beloved family and his faith in the Lord. He was an undeniable hardworking, proud and devoted family man. Family gatherings were always special and were made more enjoyable by his unique story-telling and occasional guitar playing. He was loved and respected by all who knew him. He will forever live in our hearts and will be greatly missed by his family, relatives and friends. Preceded in death by his parents; sister Maria Ybarra; and one infant son, Mark; Jose is survived by his wife of almost 55 years, Tillie; sons Joe, Robert, David, Pedro, Danny, Alfonso, Michael and Paul: daughters Dianna Trevizo and Elizabeth Castaneda all from Phoenix; 34 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren: brothers Ralph, Pete, and Gilbert Gonzales, all from Phoenix; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Visitation Friday, August 30, 2002 at Resthaven Park Mortuary & Cemetery, 4310 E. Southern Ave. in Phoenix. Funeral services Saturday, August 31, 2002 at Valley Cathedral 6225 N. Central Avenue in Phoenix Interment immediately following at Resthaven Park Cemetery. We love you "Pop". You will live in our hearts until we see you again in Heaven.
