Hildreth
Hildreth Ludewig, is a native of Springfield, Missouri and attended the public schools there. She also attended Drury College in Springfield, and Rockhurst College in Kansas City, Missouri and the University of Minnesota through a government-sponsored program.
Hildreth's career ladder with the Federal Government started in 1943 and transferred to the United States Department of Justice in Kansas City, Missouri, later transferred to Washington D. C. where she traveled extensively throughout the United States on Federal Grand Jury investigations. In 1956 she went with the United States Senate Committee on Rules and Administration retiring in 1973 as Assistant Chief Clerk of the Committee.
During her tenure on the Rules Committee, as a Democratic appointee, she was asked to be Executive Secretary of the Joint Congressional Inaugural Committee for President Kennedy in 196O and for President Johnson in 1964, and the Republican Joint Inaugural Committee Chairman in 1968 asked her to serve in an advisory capacity for the two Nixon inaugurals. She coordinated and assisted the wives of Vice President Nixon, Johnson, Humphrey and Agnew, who as Presidents of the Senate Ladies Club, honor First Ladies at an annual lunchon. Hildreth has planned and coordinated numerous Senate funtions such as luncheons, receptions, breakfasts, coffees and teas for Senators and or their wives, the largest being for 500 D.A.R. ladies from North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia in the Senate Caucus Room.
In 1973 she married Victor F. Ludewig and two months later they both decided to retire and in 1974 they moved to Sun City, Arizona. Mr. Ludewig passed away in March, 1999.
Hildreth is a member of Kiva Chapter of Questers, has served as its President for four years, Secretary eleven years and as Arizona State Parliamentarian of Questers for six years and in 1990 was asked to serve on the International Nominating Committee of Questers. Hildreth is a member of the Sun Cities Art Museum and League and Sun Cities Symphony Guild, Sun Cities Symphony Organization, Daughters of the American Revolution and the Sun City Christian Church. The Union Hills Country Club and The Lakes Club.
