ORMES, Ernest K.


The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona Thursday, January 16, 2003 Ernest K. Ormes, 77, of Phoenix, Arizona, went to be with the Lord on January 8, 2003. Ernest was born in Louisville, Kentucky on October 25, 1925. He served in the Merchant Marines and the U.S. Coast Guard during WW II, and retired from the U.S. Army in 1968. He was a member of the Loyal Order of Kentucky Colonels. Ernie was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Ernest is survived by his wife and best friend of 48 yrs., Isabella; four daughters, Evelyne (Ian) Stoddern, Jeanette (Gary) Malone, Catherine (Richard) Hicks, Helen (Clay) Hill, and one son, Edward (Marla) Ormes; grandchildren, Bill, Julie, Tracy, Jason, Tanya, Rob, Beth, David Sr., Rhonda, Les, Elaine, Tyler, Rick, Christina, Derek, Brian, Edward Jr., and Curtis; great grandchildren Jessica, Timothy, David Jr., Michael, Angelica, Alyssa, Joseph, Christopher, Billy and Justin. One surviving sister, Geraldine Coffee of Louisville, Ky. and two nephews Kenneth Oaklee & Ronnie Joe Coffee of Louisville. He was preceded in death by his sister Doris Scott of Phoenix and his great-granddaughter Samantha Ormes also of Phoenix. A memorial service will be held on January 17, 2003 at 9:00 a.m. at the V.A.
